The pattern is cut into wood before it is printed — each spiral carved by hand, requiring precision to sustain its continuity across repetition. The printing follows slowly, the block set and reset across the cloth, leaving slight variations in pressure that shift the tone of the pattern.

The linen ground carries the mark of washing and finishing, softening the surface while preserving the sharpness of the print.
