Volta Check

Based on a mid-20th-century handwoven cloth from the Ewe region near the Volta River, Volta Check reflects the balance between structure and spontaneity found in West African weaving. Alternating bands of indigo, coral, and ivory converge into shifting grids—each intersection alive with rhythm and intention.

Originally woven on narrow looms and joined selvedge to selvedge, the design carries the quiet precision of pattern and pulse. The result is a textile that feels at once architectural and human—woven memory held in thread.
