Hanachiru

Hanachiru is based on a nineteenth-century handwoven Japanese textile. Before the cloth is woven, the floral design is hand screen-printed directly onto the linen warp. The printed threads shift slightly as the weft passes through them, softening the image into the structure of the cloth and giving the flowers their blurred edges. Hanachiru means “falling blossoms.”
