Kinjiki

Kinjiki is woven from individually dyed cotton warp yarns crossed with a linen weft, creating a striped cloth in which subtle variations in the dyed yarn remain visible. Kinjiki, or “forbidden colors,” originally referred to colors restricted by rank at the Japanese court. Yukio Mishima later borrowed the phrase for his novel of forbidden desire.
