Biang Kerok

Woven from cotton and wild eri silk, the cloth carries a surface that never fully resolves — the silk weft, hand-twisted, introduces a subtle irregularity that resists uniformity. The warp, dyed in four separate tones, requires nearly fifty days of preparation before it is set, more than nine thousand threads drawn and aligned into a single field.

The weaving proceeds slowly, the loom holding tension between resilience and softness. Once finished, the fabric is heat-cured and pressed, fixing the color while preserving the natural unevenness of the silk.

Biang Kerok names the instigator — the one who sets things in motion.
